Prayers from the Pieta Booklet

Act of Consecration to the Blessed Virgin
My Queen, my Mother, I give myself entirely to You. And to show my devotion to You, I consecrate to You this day my eyes, my ears, my mouth, my heart, my whole being without reserve. Wherefore, Good Mother, as I am Your own, keep me, guard me as Your property and possession, now and forever. Amen.

Prayer to St. Joseph
O St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the Throne of God, I place in You all my interests and desires. O St. Joseph, do assist me by Your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. So that having engaged here below Your Heavenly Power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the Most Loving of Fathers. O St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating You and Jesus asleep in Your arms. I dare not approach while He reposes near Your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, patron of departing souls, pray for us. Amen.

Offering of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Reparation for Sins
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Sacred Heart of Jesus with all its love, all its sufferings, and all its merits –

First – To expiate all the sins I have committed this day, and during all my life. Glory…
Second – To purify the good I have done badly this day, and during all my life. Glory…
Third – To supply for the good I ought to have done, and that I have neglected to do, this day and during all my life. Glory…

Hail Mary, White Lily of the Glorious and always Serene Trinity! Hail, Brilliant Rose of the Garden of Heavenly Delights! O You, by Whom God wanted to be born and by whose milk the King of Heaven wanted to be nourished, nourish our souls with effusions of Divine Grace. Amen.

Act of Offering
Eternal Father, we humbly offer You our poor presence, and that of the whole of humanity from the beginning to the end of the world, at all the Masses that ever have or ever will be prayed. We offer You all the pains, sufferings, prayers, sacrifices, joys, and relaxations of our lives in union with those of Our Dear Lord Jesus Christ while here on earth. May the Most Precious Blood of Christ, all His Blood, Wounds, and Agony save us, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Amen.

In Honor of the Precious Drops of Blood Lost by Jesus

Prayer to the Infant Jesus of Prague
O Merciful Infant Jesus, I know of Your Miraculous Deeds for the sick. In view of the innumerable graces and cures granted through the veneration of Your Most Holy Infancy, particularly in the Statue of Prague, I exclaim with the greatest assurance, O Most Loving Infant Jesus, You can cure me if You Will. Extend Your Holy Hand and by Your Power take away all pain and infirmity. Amen.

Prayer before a Crucifix
Look down upon me, Good and Gentle Jesus, while before Your Crucifix I humbly kneel and pray and beseech Thee to fix deep in my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope, charity, true contrition for my sins and a firm purpose of amendment while I contemplate with great love and tender pity Thy Five Wounds, pondering over them within me and calling to mind the words which David, Thy Prophet, said of Thee, my Jesus – “They have pierced my hands and my feet. They have numbered all my bones.” Amen.

One Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory be for the Holy Father’s intentions.

Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me, Blood of Christ, inebriate me, Water from the Side of Christ, wash me, Passion of Christ, strengthen me. O Good Jesus, hear me, within Thy Wounds, hide me. Suffer me not to be separated from Thee. From the malignant enemy, defend me. In the hour of my death, call me and bid me to come to Thee that with Thy Angels and Saints, I may praise Thee, forever and ever. Amen.

O Jesus, I turn towards the Holy Tabernacle where You live hidden for love of me. I love you, O my God. I want to receive You in Holy Communion. I cannot receive You, Lord. Come, nevertheless, and visit me with Your Grace. Come spiritually into my heart, purify it, sanctify it, render it like unto Your Own, now and forever. Amen. Lord, I’m not worthy that Thou shouldst enter under my roof but only say the word and my soul shall be healed. Amen. (Repeat three times.)

Repentance Prayer
Loving Father, You are the Source of all Goodness and Love and You never refuse forgiveness to those who come to You with repentant hearts. Mercifully listen to our prayer to You, in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the intercession of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, for those whom we intend, intended and will intend to pray for, and those who in prayer recommend themselves, or are recommended by others, and for those who cannot pray for themselves and have no one to pray for them, and for ourselves, family, relatives, friends, benefactors, and all Your faithful serving You.

Look with kindness upon them and forgive them for all their sins and failures. Give them the grace to acknowledge them before You. Help them look into their lives and see the many ways they displeased You in their relationship with You, with their loved ones and friends through the sin of pride, the sin of anger, lust or weakness of the flesh, envy, greed, gluttony and sloth and for the negative consequences that resulted from them. Forgive them for their inability to be faithful to Your Commandments and bless them with humility to repent with sincere and contrite hearts. Give them the strength to fight future temptations to sin and to avoid being exposed to occasions for sin. Give them the patience and perseverance to make amends in their lives and be transformed according to Your Most Holy Will.

All these we pray in Jesus’ Mighty Name through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Holy Angels and saints. Amen.

O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. My Jesus, pardon and mercy through the merits of Your Most Sorrowful Passion. My Jesus, pardon and mercy through the merits of Your Holy Wounds. Amen. Jesus, King of Mercy, have mercy on us. Amen.

Prayer to Take Authority
In the Holy Name of Jesus, I take authority and bind all powers and forces in the air, in the ground, in the water, in the underground, in the netherworld, in nature and in fire. You are the Lord of the entire universe and we give You glory for Your creation. In Your Name, I bind all the demonic forces that have come against us and our families and I seal all of us in the protection of Your Precious Blood that was shed for us on the Cross.

Mary, our Mother, we seek your protection and intercession with the Sacred Heart of Jesus for us and our families and surround us with your mantle of love to discourage the enemy. St. Michael and our guardian angels, come and defend us and our families in the battle against all the evil ones that roam the earth.

In the Name of Jesus, I bind and command all powers and forces of evil to depart right now away from us, our homes and our lands. And we thank You, Lord Jesus, for You are a Faithful and Compassionate God. Amen.

O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in You. O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I believe in Your Love for me. O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Kingdom come. Amen.

Deliverance Prayer
In the Holy Name of Jesus of Nazareth, through His Tremendous Power as God and through His Most Powerful and Salvific name, I rebuke, repudiate, bind and cast out the spirits Satan and every unclean spirit.

I turn them over to Jesus, my Lord and my Savior for Him to take hold of them and dispose of them according to His Will. I pray that the Holy Spirit would enter into the empty spaces left by the spirits of Satan and every unclean spirit and fill them with the spirit of Christ’s Love, Joy and Peace, and for the Holy Spirit to remain there forever and not to allow those spirits to come back again.

I pray this in the Mighty Name of Jesus, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary and all the Holy Angels and saints. Amen.

Prayer to Bind Away
In the Holy Name of Jesus, we take authority over each and every spirit that has come against those whom we intend, intended and will intend to pray for, and against those who in prayer recommend themselves, or are recommended by others, and against those who cannot pray for themselves and have no one to pray for them, and against ourselves, family, relatives, friends, benefactors, and all Your faithful serving You, and we bind you away. Amen.

Healing Occult Involvement
Heavenly Father, we lift up to You for healing and forgiveness, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, by the Power of the Holy Spirit, and through the intercession of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, those whom we intend, intended and will intend to pray for, those who in prayer recommend themselves, or are recommended by others, and those who cannot pray for themselves and have no one to pray for them, for, knowingly and unknowingly, opening their spirits to occult influences.

We place them now under the Cross of Jesus Christ and claim that nothing shall interfere with the Lord’s work being accomplished in their lives. Cover them with Your Most Precious Blood. Let Your Light surround them and put on them Your Armor of Protection to resist the devil’s tactics. Let truth be buckled around their waists and let integrity be their breastplates. Exorcism and Baptismal Vows
Original sin makes us sharers of the guilt and punishment of our first parents, who delivered themselves to the power of Satan, when they yielded to his temptation. Baptism frees us from this evil dominion. Our minds are opened to receive the light of God’s Faith; the devil is put to flight; we are joined to Jesus, the Vanquisher of Satan; we pledge ourselves to fight with Him in His warfare against the wicked one. The ceremonies of Exorcism and Baptismal Vows give vivid expression to these truths.

We pray:

“We command you, O every unclean spirit, in the name of God the Father Almighty, and in the name of Jesus Christ His Son, our Lord and Judge, and in the power of the Holy Spirit, that you depart from these creatures of God, N., whom our Lord has deigned to call to His holy Temple, in order that they may themselves become the temple of the living God and that the Holy Spirit may dwell in them. Through the same Christ our Lord, who will come to judge the living and the dead and the world by fire. Amen.”

“Dost thou renounce Satan?” Sponsor: “I do renounce him.” “And all his works?” Sponsor: “I do renounce them.” “And all his pomps?” Sponsor: “I do renounce them.”

Healing of Body, Mind and Spirit
Almighty and Eternal Father, we know that there is no sickness that You cannot heal. You know all things, You can do all things and You love those whom we intend, intended and will intend to pray for, and those who in prayer recommend themselves, or are recommended by others, and those who cannot pray for themselves and have no one to pray for them.

We pray for the intercession of St. Bernadette Soubirous, faithful hand-maid of our Immaculate Mother and the intercession of St. Bridget of Sweden to whom Your Only-begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ gave the Fifteen Prayers. We also pray for the intercession of Pope John Paul II, the De La Salle Brothers and Companion Martyrs, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, and Mother Candida Maria de Jesus.

With faith in Your Promise that whatever we ask in prayer, You will grant us if it will be good for our souls, We, now, come before You to ask for healing of body, mind, emotions and spirit for these persons. Touch them now where they are hurting most. Only You know what kind of healing they need most right now.

Let the grace of Your Divine Love flow and spread to the different parts of their bodies reaching the inner recesses of their beings. Comfort them in their pain and anguish. Correct any malfunctioning of their body organs. Melt with Your Healing Love any abnormal growths. Arrest all further spreading of all sick cells and replace them with healthy cells.

Root out all unresolved hurts, resentments, fears and feelings of despair and frustration. Heal all painful memories and repercussions of traumatic experiences. Grant them the grace to accept their trials and sufferings as a share in Your own sufferings and offer this for the salvation of their souls and those of their families and loved ones. Forgive them for all their sins and fill them with Your Love, Peace, Joy, Kindness, and Generosity. Let them realize the deeper meaning of their sicknesses and trials and lead them closer to You as they find comfort in Your Loving Heart, in union with the Sacred Heart of Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Let them find Joy and Peace amidst their suffering, and with eyes of faith, see the blessing and victory that await them. And then, dear Father, after they have been healed, may they be witnesses of Your Healing Power, may they bring glory, honor and praise to You.

Holy God, Holy Powerful God, Holy Immortal God, have mercy on us and the whole world. Amen. Holy God, Holy Powerful God, Holy Immortal God, have mercy on us and the whole world. Amen. Holy God, Holy Powerful God, Holy Immortal God, have mercy on us and the whole world. Amen.

May the Most Holy, Most Sacred, Most Adorable, Most Mysterious and Unutterable Name of God be always praised, blessed, loved, adored, and glorified in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, by all creatures of God and by the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Amen.

Heavenly Father, let the cleansing, healing waters of Lourdes which you gave to St. Bernadette through the Immaculate Concepcion, our Beloved Mother, carry Your Divine Love to them and purify them, sanctify them, render them like unto Yourself, and wash them clean of sicknesses, illnesses and diseases, from the crown of their heads down to the soles of their feet, and to the very marrow of their bones.

Eternal Father, may You, forever, be glorified in Your creation, in Your angels, and in Your saints and martyrs. Amen.

All this we pray in the Holy and Mighty Name of Your Son Our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns in union with You and the Holy Spirit, now and forever, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary and Your Holy Angels, saints and martyrs. Amen.

Cut off all links to all the sources and causes of their addiction. Lead them by the hand to all the right people who can help them in their healing process and deliver them from their addiction.

Family Tree Healing
(Family Deliverance Prayer)
Loving Father, we come before You with grateful hearts praising and thanking You for having called us to pray for the healing of family trees of those whom we intend, intended and will intend to pray for, and those who in prayer recommend themselves, or are recommended by others, and those who cannot pray for themselves and have no one to pray for them, and their relationships. We come with humble hearts to pray for their special intentions and for all the people they bring with them in spirit for vicarious healing, pleading to be set free of intergenerational bondages to sin, sicknesses and weaknesses that continue to destroy their families.

We ask you to remove whatever blocks the flow of Your Graces to their family bloodlines and keeps them away from You. Today and all the days in the future, we place their families under Your Divine Protection asking You to cover them with Your Most Precious Blood. We also ask for the intercession of Mary, our Blessed Mother, and all the angels and saints to pray for us and with us as we lift up to You all our special petitions.

Let the cleansing waters of their baptism flow back through all the roots of their family trees and bloodlines. Let the life-giving blood of Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, flow through every generation, through all their parents, grandparents and ancestors, to all their children and descendants, touching, healing and making each member whole.

We ask for Your Graces and Strength to rebuke all sin and forces of evil that lead them to sin. We ask for Your Spirit of Revelation to work within them to reveal all hidden sins and sins in their family bloodlines. We beg for Your Mercy and Forgiveness as they repent for all past and present sins and those of their fathers, forefathers and ancestors.

We now place the Cross of Jesus between their families and every generation in their bloodlines and we break the transfer of all life-suppressing forces working against them, in them and through them.

We now take authority in the Holy and Mighty Name of Jesus Christ, over all familial spirits, all generational bondages and their manifestations within their lives, all hereditary defects, genetic or of blood, and all wrong inclinations and destructive patterns that may have been transmitted to them from within their family trees or within spiritual families to which they belong, including the defects within our Church that have personally affected them.

Transform them and all their family members, Lord, so that they may seek, know and follow Your Will in their lives. Strengthen them to remain faithful to You always.

In the Holy Name of Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, by His Power and for His Love, we break the power of evil on their families and destroy what otherwise might be transmitted to their descendants.

We claim Your complete victory in their lives and all their family bloodlines. We claim Your total and permanent healing and deliverance of their family members and ancestors from all ancestral bondages and destructive patterns. All these we pray in Jesus’ Name through Mary and all the angels and saints. Amen.

Spiritual Healing
Heavenly Father, thank you for loving those whom we intend, intended and will intend to pray for, and those who in prayer recommend themselves, or are recommended by others, and those who cannot pray for themselves and have no one to pray for them, and for calling them to come closer to You. Thank you for the many times that You have never given up on them even if they have often strayed away from You, for the many times that You have been faithful to Your Promises despite all their unfaithfulness, sins, failures and all their weaknesses.

We now come before You with humble hearts asking for spiritual healing for them. Thank you for Your concern for their spiritual lives. Thank you for Your Healing Mercy and Your Forgiveness for all offenses in their lives and the many ways they have displeased You in thoughts, words and actions. Heal them Lord of their times of prayerlessness caused by laziness, or by giving higher priority to other activities or interests. Heal them for the times that they depended entirely on their own efforts or on others and disregarded You completely; for those times that they were blinded by self-centeredness and many other worldly concerns and turned their backs on You, those times that they easily gave in to temptations despite being aware of their consequences.

Search them, O God, and help them see the areas in their spiritual lives that need Your Healing Love and Mercy. Create in them clean hearts and let Your Spirit dwell in their hearts. Give them the grace to put You as first priority in their lives at all times and to turn away from sin or occasions and influences that lead to sin. Teach them to pray and plant in them the desire to pray as often as they can. Lift them up when their prayers seem dry or empty and they feel as though their prayers are not being heard. Strengthen them with patience and perseverance when trials and obstacles make them feel like giving up. Guide them in the right path that leads only to You. Keep them in the company of people who will lead them to holiness. And, dearest Lord, draw them near to You always and let their spirits be filled with Your Power, Love, Peace, Joy, and Healing Presence.

All these we pray these in Jesus’ Holy and Mighty Name through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary and all the Holy Angels, saints and martyrs. Amen.

Jesus, Mary, I love you, save souls. Amen.

Cleansing Prayer
Heavenly Father, in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior and by the Power of the Holy Spirit, we pray that the cleansing power of the Precious Blood of Your Son come upon us right now.

Purify us and wash us clean with the Blood of Jesus from the top of our heads down to the very soles of our feet. Let His Most Precious Blood penetrate the very marrow of our bones to cleanse us from any entanglement with whatever spirit we have come in contact with during the course of our intercession. Anoint us with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and refresh our bodies, souls and spirits.

And may the sign of Your Holy Cross drive away all evil spirits from us. In the name of the Father (†) and of the Son (†) and of the Holy Spirit . Amen. (†)

Evening Prayers

Act of Thanksgiving
O Almighty and Eternal God, prostrate before Your Divine Majesty, I adore you with all possible reverence. I believe and hold for certain all that You have revealed to Your Holy Church. I hope in Your Infinite Goodness and Mercy. And I love You with all my heart.

O Great and Almighty God, I kneel before You to thank You with my whole heart for all the favors which You have bestowed upon me this day and during all my life – for my food and drink, my health and all my powers of body and soul. I thank You for all Your Holy Lights and Inspirations, for Your Gracious Care and Protection, and for all those other mercies which I do not now recall or which I do not know how to value as I ought. I thank You for them all, O Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for all my sins. Because of them I deserve the eternal pains of hell. But most of all, because I have offended Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, to avoid the proximate occasion of sin and never to sin anymore. Amen.

Prayer for the Faithful Departed
Jesus Christ, King of Glory, deliver the souls of all the faithful departed from the pains of hell and from the bottomless pit. Deliver them from the lion’s mouth that hell swallow them not up, that they fall not into darkness, but let Your Holy Standard-bearer, Michael, bring them into that Holy Light which you promised to Abraham and his seed. Amen.

Angelus
The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary and She Conceived by the Power of the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary... Behold the hand-maid of the Lord: “Be it done unto me according to Your Word.” Hail Mary... And the Word was made Flesh and Dwelt Amongst Us. Hail Mary... Pray for us, O Holy Mary, Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the Promises of Christ. Let us pray. Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy Grace into our hearts that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an Angel, may by His Passion and Cross, be brought to the Glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ, Our Lord. Amen. Glory… Glory… Glory… O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Amen.

And You, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. Mary, Queen of all Holy Angels, pray for us. Amen.

Songs of Praise

You Alone are Holy
You alone are Holy
O Lord God Almighty
O Lord most Holy
You are King of Kings
And Lord of Lords
The Father of us all

And we bow down before You
Every creature shall adore You
You are mighty God, the Messiah
The Savior of the world

You alone are worthy, Lamb of God
We behold Your splendor, seated on the Throne
Robed and crowned with glory
Evermore

Mighty Lord!

In You Light, We See Light
How priceless is Your steadfast love,
O Lord, far more than life itself
In the shadow of Your wings
Shall all who seek find refuge and help

REF: For in You, is the Fountain of Life
In Your Light, we see light
For in You, is the Fountain of Life
In Your Light, do we see light

Through the abundance of Your steadfast love
We come into Your holy place
In the fear of You we worship
At Your throne of mercy and grace

We feast on the abundance
Of Your House as on the richest food
From the river of delights
We drink our fill of all that is good

Lord, I Lift Your Name on High
Lord, I lift Your Name on high
Lord, I love to sing Your praises
I’m so glad You’re in my life
I’m so glad You’ve come to save us

You came from heaven to earth to show the way
From the earth to the Cross, my debt to pay
From the Cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky
Lord, I lift Your Name on high

More Than Wonderful
He promised us that He would be the councilor
A mighty God and Prince of Peace
He promised us that He would be a Father
And He would love us with a love that would not cease

Well, I tried Him and I found that His promises are true
He’s everything He said He would be
The finest words I know could not begin to tell
Just what Jesus means to me

REF: For He’s more wonderful than my mind can conceive
He’s more wonderful than my heart can believe
He goes beyond my highest hopes and fondest dreams
He’s everything that my soul ever longed for

Everything He promised and so much more
More than amazing, more than marvelous
More than miraculous, could ever be
He’s more than wonderful, that’s what Jesus is to me

I stand amazed when I think the King of Glory
Would come to live within the heart of men
Oh, I marvel just to know He really loves me
When I think of who He is and who I am
(Repeat Refrain)

Come to the River of Life
REF: Come to the River of Life
You will find healing here
Come to the River of Life
Come and drink freely here

Come if your heart is searching
Come if your soul is thirsty
Draw near and drink of the mercy
Of Jesus Christ, at the River of Life

There is river whose streams make glad
The City of God, the City of God
So come if you’re wounded or sad
There is a river, there is a river (Repeat Refrain)

It flows from the land of eternal life
Where there’s no more sorrow and no more night
Into the hearts that are lifted to Him
Filling His children again, and again, and again

I Could Sing of Your Love Forever
Over the mountains and the sea
Your river runs with love for me
And I will open up my heart
And let the Healer set me free

I’m happy to be in the truth
And I will daily lift my hands
For I will always sing
Of when Your love came down

REF: I will sing of Your love, forever
I will sing of Your love, forever
I will sing of Your love, forever
I will sing of Your love, forever

Oh, I feel like dancing
It’s foolishness, I know
But when the world has seen the light
They will dance with joy
As we’re dancing now

I Love to Be in Your Presence
I love to be in Your presence
With Your people, singing praises
I love to stand and rejoice
Lift my hand and raise my voice (Repeat)

You set my feet to dancing
You fill my heart with song
You give me reason to rejoice
Rejoice!

God Will Make a Way
God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me

He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With Love and Strength
For each new day
He will make a way (twice)

By a roadside in the wilderness He’ll lead me
Rivers in the desert will I see
Heaven and earth will fade
But His Word will still remain
He will do something new today

With Love and Strength for each new day
He will make a way (Repeat)

Give Thanks
Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given
Jesus Christ, His Son (REPEAT)

REF: And now, let the weak say I am strong
Let the poor say I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done
For us (REPEAT)

Give thanks, give thanks

As We Worship You
As we worship You
Let all the world come and see
How the mercy we received from You
Can set them free

And as we worship You
Let all this joy that fills our hearts
Bring a hunger and a hope
To those who’ve strayed so far

REF: As we bow in adoration
And stand in reverent awe
Show Your majesty and glory
Let Your annointing fall

As we declare Your Name, Lord Jesus
As the only Name who saves
May the power of Your salvation
Fill each heart, we pray

As we worship You
Let all the nations hear our song
Song of Jesus and His Blood
That proved His love for all

And as we worship You
May all the lost and broken come
May they hear Your still small voice
Call out their names each one
(Repeat Refrain)

Marian Songs

Mary is Our Queen
Mary is our Queen, O sing to Her
Mary is our Mother, trust in Her

Guiding us to Jesus, our True Light

Mary is the Creature of our Race
Whom the Holy Spirit filled with grace
To become the Mother of Our Lord
The God whom She adored

Ave, Ave, Ave Maria (REPEAT)

Mary Immaculate
Mary Immaculate, Star of the Morning
Chosen before the creation began
Destined to bring to the light of your dawning
Conquest of Satan and rescue to men

REF: Bend from Your throne at the voice of our crying
Look to this earth where Your footsteps have trod
Stretch out your arms to us living and dying
Mary Immaculate, Mother of God

We sinners honor Your sinless perfection
Fallen and weak, for God’s mercy we plead
Grant us the shield of Your mighty protection
Measure Your aid by the depth of our need.

Immaculate Mother
Immaculate Mother, we come at Thy call
And, lo, at The altar, before Thee we fall

REF: Ave, Ave, Ave Maria (REPEAT)

In grief and temptation, in joy and in pain
We’ll seek Thee our Mother, nor seek Thee in vain

Immaculate Mother, to You do we plead
To ask God, Our Father, for help in our need

We pray for our country, the land of our birth
We pray for all nations that peace be on earth

Mother of Christ
Mother of Christ, Mother of Christ
What shall I ask of Thee?
I neither sigh for the wealth of earth
For the joys that fade and flee

But Mother of Christ, Mother of Christ
This do I long to see
The bliss untold which Your arms enfold
The Treasure upon Your knee

Mother of Christ, Mother of Christ
I toss on a stormy sea
O lift Your Child as a Beacon Light
To the port where I feign would be

And Mother of Christ, Mother of Christ
This do I ask of Thee
When the voyage is o’er
O stand on the shore
And show Him at last to me.

Gentle Woman
REF: Gentle Woman, quiet light
Morning Star, so strong and bright
Gentle Mother, peaceful dawn
Teach us wisdom, teach us love

You were chosen by the Father
You were chosen by the Son
You were chosen from all women
And for women, Shining Light

Blessed are You, among women
Blest are they, all women, too
Blessed are they, with peaceful spirits
Blessed are they, with gentle hearts

Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of Grace
The Lord is with You
Blessed are You among women
And blessed is the fruit of Your Womb, Jesus

Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us, sinners
Now and at the hour of our death
Amen

Si Maria, aming Ina, ibig naming marangal

REF: O Maria, tutulungan kaming nangabubuhay

Beyond the Sunset
Beyond the sunset, Our Lord is calling
What have you done, dear, throughout the day?
My heart responded, My Lord and Savior
I loved You dearly throughout the day

Beyond the sunset, Mary is calling
What have you done, dear, throughout the day?
My heart responded, Mary, my Mother
I loved You dearly throughout the day

O This Day, O Beautiful Mother
REF: On this day, O beautiful Mother
On this day, we give Thee our love
Near the Madonna, fondly we hover
Trusting Thy gentle care to prove

On this day we ask to share
Dearest Mother Thy sweet care
Aid us ere our feet astray
Wander from Thy guiding way

Queen of angels, deign to hear
Lisping children’s humble prayer
Young hearts gain, I Virgin Pure
Young hearts gain, I Virgin Pure

Our Lady of Fatima
Dear Lady of Fatima
We come on bended knees
To beg Your intercession
For peace and unity

Dear Mary, won’t You show us?
The right and shining way
We pledge our love and offer You
A rosary each day

You promised at Fatima
Each time that You appeared
To help us if we pray to You
To banish war and fear

Dear Lady, on First Saturdays
We ask Your Guiding Hand
For grace and guidance here on earth
And protection for our land

Mass Songs

Holy God, We Praise Thy Name
Holy God, we praise Thy Name
Lord of All! We bow before Thee
All on Earth Thy scepter claim
All in heaven above adore Thee
Infinite Thy vast domain
Everlasting is Thy reign

Hark! The loud celestial hymn
Angels’ choirs above are raising
Cherubim and Seraphim
In unceasing chorus praising
Fill the heavens with sweet accord
Holy, holy, holy Lord!
Fill the heavens with sweet accord
Holy, holy, holy Lord!

I Love You, Lord
I love You, Lord
And I lift my voice
To worship You
O my soul, rejoice

Take joy, my King
In what you hear
Make it a sweet
Sweet sound, in Your Ear

O Sacred Heart, O Love Divine
Do keep us near to Thee
And make our hearts
So like to Thine
That we may holy be

REF: Heart of Jesus, hear!
O Heart of Love Divine
Listen to our prayer
Make us always Thine

O Temple Pure, O House of Gold
Our Heaven here below
What sweet delight
What wealth untold
From Thee do ever flow

Ungrateful hearts, forgetful hearts
The hearts of men have been
To wound Thy Side
With cruel darts
Which they have made by sin

Heart of Jesus, Meek and Mild
Heart of Jesus, meek and mild
Hear, o hear, Thy feeble child
When the tempest’s most severe
Heart of Jesus, hear

REF: Sweetly, we’ll rest on Thy Sacred Heart
Never from Thee, O let us part
Hear then Thy loving children’s prayer
O Heart of Jesus, Heart of Jesus, hear

Make me, Jesus, wholly Thine
Take this wayward heart of mine
Guide me through this world so drear
Heart of Jesus, hear

When I draw my parting breath
When my eyes shall close in death
Then, sweet Jesus, be Thou near
Heart of Jesus, hear

Allelu-alleluia

Ask and it shall be given unto you
Seek and you shall find
Knock and it shall be opened unto you
Allelu-alleluia

On Eagle’s Wings (4)
You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord
Who abide in His Shadow for life
Say to the Lord “My Refuge
My Rock in whom I trust”

REF: And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of His Hand

The snare of the fowler will never capture you
And famine will bring you no fear
Under His Wings your Refuge
His Faithfulness your shield

You need not fear the terror of the night
Nor the arrow that flies by day
Though thousands fall about you
Near you it shall not come

For to His angels, he’s given a command
To guard you in all of your ways
Upon their hands they will bear you up
Lest you dash your foot against a stone

Be Not Afraid
You shall cross the barren desert
But you shall not die of thirst
You shall wander far in safety
Though you do not know the way
You shall speak your words in foreign lands
And all will understand
You shall see the face of God and live

REF: Be not afraid. I go before you always
Come follow me and I will give you rest

If you pass through raging waters
In the sea, you shall not drown
If you walk amid the burning flames
You shall not be harmed
If you stand before the power of hell
And death is at your side
Know that I am with you through it all

Time to Change
It’s time for us to make our dreams come true
A guiding voice will tell us what to do
It’s the time to change ourselves and show the world
That we still care for men and we’ll lead them there

We’ll lead them to a place beyond the sea
A place of love where everyone is free
Don’t despair the path to happiness is wide
If we must change our ways call on God for our Guide

Spirit Song
O let the Son of God enfold you
With His Spirit and His Love
Let Him fill your hearts and satisfy your soul
O let Him have the things that hold you
And His Spirit like a dove
Will descend upon your life and make you whole

REF: Jesus, O Jesus, come and fill Your Lambs (REPEAT)

O come and sing this song with gladness
As your hearts are filled with joy
Lift your hands in sweet surrender to His Name
O give Him all your tears and sadness
Give Him all your years of pain
And you’ll enter into life in Jesus’ name

Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Water from the side of Christ, wash me
Passion of Christ, give me strength

Hear me, Jesus
Hide me in your wounds that I may never leave Thy Side
From all the evils that surround me, defend me
And when the call of death arrives, bid me come to Thee
That I may praise Thee with Thy saints, forever

Sing a New Song Unto the Lord
REF: Sing a new song unto the Lord
Let your song be sung from mountains high
Sing a new song unto the Lord
Singing Alleluia

Yahweh’s people dance for joy
O come before the Lord
And play for Him on glad tambourines
And let your trumpet sound

Rise, O children, from your sleep
Your Savior now has come
He has turned your sorrow to joy
And filled your soul with song

Here I am, Lord
I, the Lord of sea and sky
I have heard my people cry
All who dwell in dark and sin
My Hand shall save

I who made the stars of night
I will make their darkness bright
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?

REF: Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night
I will go, Lord, if You lead me
I will hold Your people in my heart

I, the Lord of snow and rain
I have borne my people’s pain
I have wept for love of them
They turn away

I will break their hearts of stone
Give them hearts for love alone
I will speak My Word to them
Whom shall I send?

I, the Lord of wind and flame
I will tend the poor and lame
I will set a feast for them
My Hand will save

Finest bread I will provide
Till their hearts be satisfied
I will give my life to them
Whom shall I send?

In His Time
In His time, in His time
He makes all things beautiful in His time
Lord, please show me everyday
As you’re teaching me your way
That you do just what you say in Your time

In Your time, in Your time
You make all things beautiful in Your time
Lord, my life to You I bring
May each song I have to sing
Be to you a lovely thing in Your time

In Your time, in Your time
You make all things beautiful in Your time

Lift Up Your Hands
Life is not at all that bad, my friend
If you believe in yourself
If you believe there’s Someone
Who walks through life with you
You’ll never be afraid
Just learn to reach out
And open your heart
Lift up your hands to God
And He’ll make you feel alright

REF: And He said, cast your burdens upon me
Those who are heavily-laden
Come to me all of you who are tired
Of carrying heavy loads
For the yoke I will give you is easy
And my burden is light
Come to me
And I will give you rest

When you feel the world is tumbling down on you
And you have no one
That you can turn on to
Just face the rising sun
And you’ll see hope
And there’s no need to run
Lift up your hands to God
And He’ll make you feel alright

One More Gift
REF: If there’s one more gift I’d ask of You, Lord
It would be peace here on earth
As gentle as Your children’s laughter
All around, all around

Your people have grown weary
From living in confusion
When will we realize
That neither heaven is at peace
When we live not in peace?

Grant me serenity within
For the confusions around
Are mere reflections of
What’s within, what’s within me

Come Fill My World
REF: Come fill my world, come fill my life
Come take my hand, and walk with me
Come fill my world, come fill my life
Come take my hand, and walk with me

Without clouds, the rain won’t come
Without rain, the grass won’t grow
Without sun, the flowers die
Without God, we cannot be

Without eyes, we cannot see
Without hands, we cannot touch
Without hearts, we cannot love
Without God, we cannot be

Without bread, we cannot eat
Without friends, we cannot share
Without hearts, we cannot love
Without God, we cannot be

If I Have Strength
If I have strength, I owe the service of the strong
If melody I have, I owe the world a song

If I can stand when all about my post are falling
If I can run with speed when needy hearts are calling
And if my torch can light the dark of any night
Then I must pay the debt I owe with Living Light

If heaven’s grace has showered me with some rare gift
If I can lift a load no other strength can lift

Ibinulid sa upuan
Mga makapangyarihan
Itinampok, itinaas
Ang mga mabababang-loob

Ang mga nangagugutom
Pinaalis, walang dala
Ang mayamang mapagmataa

The Cenacle

The Cenacle is basically a prayer meeting. It was started with the Italian priest Don Stefani Gobbi as part of his Marian Movement of Priest and Faithful. The Disciples of Jesus were gathered together with Mary, the Mother of Jesus after His resurrection and ascension, awaiting the coming of the Holy Spirit in the Cenacle of Jerusalem. In imitation, we come together to pray with Mary especially with the recitation of the Holy Rosary.

Our Heavenly Mother herself revealed by the means of interior locution to Father Gobbi the following message as it is found in the Movement’s Handbook “Our Lady Speaks to Her Beloved Priests,” on the 7the of October 1979:

“Your entire Rosary, which you recite in the Cenacle in accordance with the urgent request of your Mother, is like an immense chain of love and salvation with which you are able to encircle persons and situations, and even to influence all the events of your time.

Continue to recite it, and multiply your Cenacles of prayer, thus responding to the invitation which the first of my beloved sons, the Vicar of Jesus, has so urgently made to you.”

The purpose of the Marian Movement is to live out more fully the Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary; to be united to the Holy Father by respecting his authority and that of the Magisterium; and to promote true Marian devotion. It is our Lady herself who is using the Cenacle to instruct and teach us to live as true Children of God. It is her task to bring us ever closer to Jesus, her Son, with a greater desire to read and be instructed by the Holy Bible, to be consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to have more ardent devotion to the Blessed Eucharist. The reward is the Holy Spirit with His gifts of peace, joy and fraternal love.

May the Cenacle Prayer bring us evermore closer to Our Blessed Mother and Her Son Jesus Christ.

Fraternally yours,
Rev. Father Hans J. Meyer

Format of the Cenacle
1. All gather around a statue of the Virgin Mary placed prominently, adorned with some candles and flowers. The priest of leader starts with the “Sign of the Cross” and a few welcoming words.
2. Song to the Holy Spirit of some other suitable song is sung.
3. The Scriptural Rosary is led by different members.
4. The “Hail, Holy Queen” is said together.
5. One “Our Father,” one “Hail Mary” and one “Glory Be” is said for the Holy Father.
6. A suitable song in honor of Our Blessed Mother (e.g. Immaculate Mother) is sung.
7. A reading from the book “Our Lady Speaks to her Beloved Priests” is read.
8. A short explanation that will introduce a shared reflection of insights received from the reading, or from some faith experiences, is made by the priest or leader.
9. A reading from Scripture, usually the coming Sunday’s Gospel may follow with a shared discussion.
10. A shared prayer or a Prayer of the Faithful is said. In some Cenacles, Mass may be said.
11. The Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary is said by all members standing. When a Mass is said, the Act of Consecration is said after the homily or after the Communion prayer.
12. If there is no Mass, the “Our Father” or some other suitable song is sung standing, holding hands as a sign of fraternal unity.
13. A blessing with a few words of dismissal is given.

Song to the Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Spirit, I need You
Come, Holy Spirit, I pray.
Come with Your strength and Your power;
Come in Your own special way.

Come like a spring in the desert,
Come to the withered of soul.
Lord, with Your sweet healing power,
Touch me and make me whole.

Pearls before the Lord

This is a mountain-moving rosary because it takes the loving intercession of the Blessed Mother, adds to it the powerful words of Jesus, and the inspired words of the Holy Spirit spoken through the prophets and saints. As you pray it over and over, your faith builds and miracles will happen. Mountains in your life will be moved and thrown into the sea. So let us begin:

I Believe in God…

“Indeed, God’s Word is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword.” (Hebrews 4:12)

Our Father…

“From the cross Jesus said to his Mother, ‘Woman, there is your son.’ In turn, He said to the disciple, ‘There is your mother.’ ” (John 19:26-27)

We pray:

Hail Mary… (3 times)

“Jesus said, ‘Believe me, if you trust and do not falter and you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea.’ even that will happen. You will receive all that you pray for, provided you have faith.” (Matthew 21:21-22)

Glory be to the Father…

Oh, my Jesus…

First Joyful Mystery
The Annunciation
“The angel came to her and said, “Peace be with you! The Lord is with you and has greatly blessed you!” Mary was deeply troubled by the angel’s message and she wondered what his words meant. The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; God has been gracious to you. You will become pregnant and give birth to a Son, and you will name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High God. The Lord God will make Him a King, as His ancestor David was, and He will be the King of the descendants of Jacob forever; His Kingdom will never end!” “I am the Lord’s servant,” said Mary; may it happen to me as you have said.” And the angel left her.” (Luke 1:28-33,38)

Mary, the Virgin of Nazareth, could be used by God powerfully because her soul was prepared and ready. Let us pray for holiness that we, too, might be ready for Jesus.

Our Father…

“May the Lord strengthen your hearts, making them blameless and holy before our God and Father.” (1 Thessalonians 3:13)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:18)

Oh, my Jesus…

Second Joyful Mystery
The Visitation
“Soon afterward Mary got ready and hurried off to a town in the hill country of Judea. She went into Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby moved within her. Elizabeth was filled by the Holy Spirit and said in a loud voice, “You are the most Blessed among women, and Blessed is the Child that you will bear! Why should this great thing happen to me that my Lord’s Mother comes to visit me? For as soon as I heard your greeting, the baby within me jumped with gladness. How happy you are to believe that the Lord’s message to you will come true.” (Luke 1:39-45)

Let us follow the example of Mary who, even though she knew she was to be the mother of the Messiah, went quickly to serve another. We pray for humility and love of others.

Our Father…

“Happy is he who has regard for the lowly and the poor; in the day of misfortune the LORD will deliver him. The LORD will help him on his sick bed, He will take away all his ailments when he is ill.” (Psalms 41:2,4)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Beloved, let us love one another because Love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten of God and has knowledge of God.” (1 John 4:7)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important Commandment. And the second most important commandment is: Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-39)

Glory be to the Father…

“Jesus said, ‘Believe me, if you trust and do not falter and you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea.’ even that will happen. You will receive all that you pray for, provided you have faith.” (Matthew 21:21-22)

Oh, my Jesus…

Third Joyful Mystery
The Nativity
“And while they were in Bethlehem, the time came for her to have her Baby. She gave birth to her First Son, wrapped Him in cloths and laid Him in a manger – there was no room for them to stay in the inn. There were some shepherds in that part of the country who were spending the night in the fields, taking care of their flocks. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the Glory of the Lord shone over them. They were terribly afraid, but the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid! I am here with good news for you, which will bring great joy to all the people. This very day in David’s town your Savior was born – Christ the Lord! And this is what will prove it to you: you will find a Baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:6-12)

Jesus, the Son of God, came to earth in poverty. He now reigns in glory. All the riches of both worlds are now His. He wishes to share these riches with us. Let us pray for the full life He offers us.

Our Father…

“I came that they might have Life and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“You are well acquainted with the favor shown you by our Lord Jesus Christ: how for your sake He made Himself poor though He was rich, so that you might become rich by His poverty.” (2 Corinthians 8:9)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Give and it shall be given to you. Good measure pressed down, shaken together, running over will they pour into the fold of your garment. For the measure you measure with will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:38)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“I believe I will see the bounty of the LORD in the land of the living.” (Psalms 27:13)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Take delight in the LORD and He will grant all your heart’s requests.” (Psalms 37:4)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Then the King will say to the people on His right. ‘Come, you that are blessed by my Father! Come and possess the Kingdom which has been prepared for you ever since the creation of the world. I tell you, whenever you did this for one of the least important of these followers of Mine, you did it for Me.” (Matthew 25:34,40)

Fourth Joyful Mystery
The Presentation
“At that time there was a man named Simeon living in Jerusalem. He was a good, God-fearing man and was waiting for Israel to be saved. The Holy Spirit was with him and assured him that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s promised Messiah. Led by the Spirit, Simeon went into the Temple. When the parents brought the Child Jesus into the Temple to do for Him what the law required, Simeon took the Child in his arms and gave thanks to God: “Now, Lord, You have kept Your Promise, and You may let Your servant go in peace. With my own eyes I have seen Your Salvation, which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples: A Light to reveal Your Will to the Gentiles and bring glory to Your people Israel.” (Luke 2:25-32)

Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple to be consecrated to God. We, too, have been consecrated. They were fully obedient to the law. Let us pray for our obedience to God’s law.

Our Father…

“You have been washed, consecrated, justified in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.” (Corinthians 6:11)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

LORD, “To You I was committed at birth, from my mother’s womb, You are my God.” (Psalms 22:11)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Gather my faithful ones before Me, those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.” (Psalms 50:5)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“This is what I commanded them: Listen to My voice; then I will be your God and you shall be My people. Walk in all the ways that I command you, so that you may prosper.” (Jeremiah 7:23)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Taste and see how good the Lord is; happy the man who takes refuge in Him.” (Psalms 34:9)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Those who are led by God’s Spirit are God’s children. Since we are His children, we will possess the blessings He keeps for His people, and we will also possess with Christ what God has kept for Him.” (Romans 8:14,17)

Fifth Joyful Mystery
The Finding of Jesus in the Temple
“On the third day they found Him in the Temple, sitting with the Jewish teachers, listening to them and asking questions. All who heard Him were amazed at His intelligent answers. His parents were astonished when they saw Him, and His Mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Your father and I have been terribly worried trying to find You.” He answered them, “Why did You have to look for me? Didn’t you know that I had to be in My Father’s house?” But they did not understand His answer.” (Luke 2:46-50)

Jesus was lost. Mary and Joseph sought Him for three days. We were once lost. Jesus sought us and now we are no longer lost, but saved through Jesus Christ. Let us give thanks for His saving deed.

Our Father…

“You have given me Your saving shield, Your Right hand has upheld me, and You have stooped to make me great.” (Psalms 18:36)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“The LORD redeems the lives of His servant; no one incurs guilt who takes Refuge in Him.” (Psalms 34:23)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“The hand of the LORD is not too short to save, nor His ear to dull to hear.” (Isaiah 59:1)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“He (Jesus) is always able to save those who approach God through Him since He forever Lives to make intercession for them.” (Hebrews 7:25)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Our belief is rather that we are saved by the favor of the Lord Jesus and so are they.” (Acts 15:11)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“For I am certain that nothing can separate us from His Love: neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present nor the future, neither the world above nor the world below – there is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the Love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)

First Sorrowful Mystery
The Agony in the Garden
“Jesus left the city and went, as He usually did, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples went with Him. When He arrived at the place, He said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” Then He went off from them about the distance of a stone’s throw and knelt down and prayed. “Father,” He said, “if You will, take this cup of suffering away from Me. Not My Will, however, but Your Will be done.” An angel from heaven appeared to Him and strengthened Him. In great anguish, He prayed even more fervently; His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. Rising from His prayer, he went back to the disciples and found them asleep, worn out by their grief. He said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you will not fall into temptation.” (Luke 22:39-46)

When Jesus was in His darkest hour of prayer, He was alone. The Apostles slept instead of praying with Him as He asked. Let us pray with one another, that our prayers will be answered.

Our Father…

“Jesus said, ‘My heart is nearly broken with sorrow. Remain here and stay awake with me.’ He advanced a little and fell prostrate in prayer.” (Matthew 26:38)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Again I tell you, if two of you join your voices on earth to pray for anything whatever, it shall be granted to you by My Father in heaven.” (Matthew 18:19)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Dismiss all anxiety from your minds. Present your needs to God in every form of prayer and in petitions full of gratitude.” (Philippians 4:6)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“The Lord has eyes for the just and ears for their cry.” (1 Peter 3:12)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“And I will do whatever you ask for in My Name, so that the Father’s glory will be shown through the Son. If you ask for anything in My Name I will do it.” (John 14:13-14)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“And so I say to you: Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” (Luke 11:9)

Second Sorrowful Mystery
The Scourging at the Pillar
“At every Passover Festival Pilate was in the habit of setting free any one prisoner the people asked for. At that time a man named Barabbas was in prison with the rebels who had committed murder in the riot. When the crowd gathered and began to ask Pilate for the usual favor, he asked them, “Do you want me to set free for you the King of the Jews?” He knew very well the chief priests had handed Jesus over to him because they were jealous. But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to ask, instead, that Pilate set Barabbas free for them. Pilate spoke again to the crowd, “What then do you want me to do with the King of the Jews?” They shouted back, “Crucify Him!” “But what crime has He committed?” Pilate asked. They shouted all the louder, “Crucify Him!” Pilate wanted to please the crowd so he set Barabbas free for them. Then he had Jesus whipped and handed Him over to be crucified. (Mark 15:6-15)

When the cruel men scourged Jesus, His body hurt, He was in pain, He bled. Is your body, or the body of someone you know, hurting, sick or bleeding? Jesus cares. Let us pray for healing.

Our Father…

“In His own body He brought your sins to the Cross, that all of us, dead to sin, could live in accord with God’s will. By His wounds You were healed.” (1 Peter 2:24)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“LORD, grant to Your servants, even as they speak Your words complete assurance by stretching forth Your hand in cures and signs and wonders to be worked in the name of Jesus, Your Holy Servant.” (Acts 4:29-30)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Jesus, if You will to do so, You can cure me. Moved with pity, Jesus stretched out His hand, touched him, and said: ‘I do will it. Be cured.’” (Mark 1:40-41)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Prayer uttered in faith will reclaim the one who is ill and the Lord will restore him to health. If he has committed any sins, forgiveness will be his."”(James 5:15)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“O LORD, my God, I cried out to You and You healed me.” (Psalms 30:3)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“My daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed of your trouble.” (Mark 5:34)

Third Sorrowful Mystery
The Crowning with Thorns
“Then Pilate took Jesus and had Him whipped. The soldiers made a crown out of thorny branches and put it on His Head; then they put a purple robe on Him and came to Him and said, “Long live the King of the Jews!” And they went up and slapped Him. (John 19:1-3)

“Then Pilate’s soldiers took Jesus into the governor’s palace, and the whole company gathered around Him. They stripped off his clothes and put a scarlet robe on Him. Then they made a crown of thorny branches and placed it on His Head, and put a stick in His Right Hand; then they knelt before Him and made fun of Him. “Long live the King of the Jews! they said. They spat on Him, and took the stick and hit Him over the Head. When they had finished making fun of Him, they took the robe off and put His own clothes back on Him. Then they led Him out to crucify Him. (Matthew 27:27-31)

Little did they know when in mockery they placed a crown of thorns upon the head of Jesus, that they were crowning Him King of this earth as well as King of Heaven. He now has power over this world. Let us pray for power over the evil in our lives.

Our Father…

“Father, I do not ask you to take them out of the world, but to guard them from the evil one.” (John 17:15)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Who, then is the conqueror of the world? The one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 John 5:5)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“I sought the LORD, and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalms 34:5)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“I want to be wise in regard to what is good and innocent of all evil. Then the God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet.” (Romans 16:19-20)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Therefore submit to God; resist the devil and he will take flight.” (James 4:7)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“God says, “I will save those who love me and will protect those who acknowledge me as Lord. When they call to me I will answer them, when they are in trouble I will be with them. I will rescue them and honor them. I will reward them with long life. I will save them.” (Psalms 91:14-16)

Fourth Sorrowful Mystery
The Carrying of the Cross
“So they took charge of Jesus. He went out carrying His Cross, and came to “The Place of the Skull,” as it is called. (In Hebrew it is called “Golgotha.”) There they crucified Him; and they also crucified two other men, one on each side, with Jesus between them. Pilate wrote a notice and had it put on the Cross. “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews,” is what he wrote. Many people read it, because the place where Jesus was crucified was not far from the city. The notice was written in Hebrew, Latin and Greek. The chief priests said to Pilate, “Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but rather, ‘This Man said, I am the King of the Jews.’ Pilate answered, “What I have written stays written.”“ (John 19:16-22)

Jesus said, “Take up your cross and follow me.” The cross was the symbol of death. For Him, it was death for the love of others. Let us walk in His footsteps and pray to die to ourselves for the love of others.

Our Father…

“He is the shield of those who walk honestly, guarding the paths of justice, protecting the ways of His pious ones.” (Proverbs 2:7-8)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Your ways, O LORD, make known to me; teach me Your paths.” (Psalms 25:4)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Jesus said, ‘I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life.’” (John 14:6)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“If you remain in Me and My Words remain in you, then you will ask for anything you wish and you will have it.” (John 15:7)

Fifth Sorrowful Mystery
The Crucifixion
“Two other men, both of them criminals, were also led out to be put to death with Jesus. When they came to the place called “The Skull,” they crucified Jesus there, and the two criminals, one on His right and the other on His left. Jesus said, “Forgive them, Father!
They don’t know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:32-34)

… One of the criminals hanging there hurled insults at Him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” The other one, however, rebuked him, saying, “Don’t you fear God? You received the same sentence He did. Ours, however, is only right, because we are getting what we deserve for what we did: but He has done no wrong.” And he said to Jesus, “Remember me, Jesus, when You come as King!” Jesus said to him, “I promise You that today you will be in Paradise with Me.” (Luke 23:39-43)

Jesus was crucified on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven. He forgave the good thief. He forgave the people who crucified Him. Let us pray for a forgiving heart.

Our Father…

“If you bring your gift to the altar and then recall that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift at the altar, go first to be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” (Matthew 5:23-24)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Then Peter came up and asked Him, ‘Lord, when my brother wrongs me, how often must I forgive him? Seven times?’ ‘No,’ Jesus said, ‘not seven times; I say, seventy times seven times.’” (Matthew 18:21-22)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Get rid of all bitterness, all passion and anger, harsh words, slander, and malice of every kind. In place of these, be kind to one another, compassionate, and mutually forgiving, just as God has forgiven you in Christ.” (Ephesians 4:31-32)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“When you stand to pray, forgive anyone against whom you have a grievance so that your heavenly Father may in turn forgive you your faults.” (Mark 11:25-26)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“A clean heart create for me, Oh God, and a steadfast spirit renew within me.” (Psalms 51:32)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Love your enemies and do good to them. You will then have a great reward and you will be children of the Most High God. For He is good to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be merciful just as your Father is merciful.” (Luke 6:35-36)

First Glorious Mystery
The Resurrection
“On the way they said to one another, who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb? (It was a very large stone.) Then they looked up and saw that the stone had already been rolled back. So they entered the tomb where they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe – and they were alarmed. “Don’t be alarmed, he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth who was crucified. He is not here – He has been raised! Look, here is the place where He was placed. Now go and give this message to His disciples, including Peter: He is going to Galilee ahead of you; there you will see Him, just as He told you.” So they went out and ran from the tomb, distressed and terrified. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.” (Mark 16:3-8)

Jesus said, He had the power to lay down His life, and to pick it up again, and so He did. He rose from the dead as we, too, one day will rise. Let us ask Jesus to raise us up even now in our everyday life when we need lifting.

Our Father…

“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws Him; I will raise him up on the last day.” (John 6:44)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“I am indeed going to prepare a place for you, and then I shall come back to take you with Me.” (John 14:3)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“I am the Resurrection and the Life; whoever believes in Me, though he should die, will come to life.” (John 11:25-26)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“But the truth is that Christ has been raised from death, as the guarantee that those who sleep in death will also be raised.” (1 Corinthians 15:20)

Second Glorious Mystery
The Ascension
“Jesus drew near and said to them, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Go then to all peoples everywhere and make them My disciples: baptize them in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

After Jesus rose from the dead, He spent many days with the Apostles. He asked Peter three times if he loved Him. Each time Peter said, “Yes, Lord, I love You.” Then Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.” Before He ascended, He commanded the apostles to go, and make disciples of all nations. Let us pray for a heart filled with zeal to spread the good news to those around us.

Our Father…

“Jesus said, ‘Go back and report to John what you hear and see: the blind recover their sight, cripples walk, lepers are cured, the deaf hear, dead men are raised to life, and the poor have the good news preached to them.’” (Matthew 11:4-5)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the world as a witness to all nations.” (Matthew 24:14)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“If you live according to My teaching, you are truly my disciples, then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“I put no value on my life if only I can finish my race and complete the service to which I have been assigned by the Lord Jesus bearing witness to the gospel of God’s grace.” (Acts 20:24)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, it is the power of God leading everyone who believes in it to salvation.” (Romans 1:16)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“He then led them out near Bethany and with His Hands upraised, blessed them. As He blessed them, He left them, and was taken up into heaven. They fell down to do Him reverence, then returned to Jerusalem filled with joy. There they were to be found in the temple constantly speaking the praises of God.” (Luke 24:50-53)

“Galileans, why are you standing there looking up at the sky? This Jesus who was taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way that you saw Him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:11)

Third Glorious Mystery
The Descent of the Holy Spirit
“Suddenly from up in the sky there came a noise like a strong, driving wind which was heard all through the house where they were seated. Tongues as of fire appeared which parted and came to rest on each of them. All were filled with the Holy Spirit. They began to express themselves in foreign tongues and make bold proclamation as the Spirit prompted them. Staying in Jerusalem at that time were devout Jews of every nation under heaven. They heard the sound and assembled in a large crowd. They were much confused because each one heard these men speaking his own language. The whole occurrence astonished them.” (Acts 2:2-7)

Before Pentecost the apostles were frightened men who met behind locked doors. After the descent of God’s Holy Spirit upon them and they were filled with His power, all fear left them. So much so that three thousand were added to their company that very day. Let us pray for God’s Holy Spirit to fill us.

Our Father…

“If you, with all your sins, know how to give your children good things, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.” (Luke 11:13)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes down on you; then you are to be my witnesses.” (Acts 1:8)

“When that day comes you will ask Him in my Name, and I do not say that I will ask Him on your behalf, for the Father Himself loves you. He loves you because you love Me and have believed that I came from God.” (John 16:26-27)

Fourth Glorious Mystery
The Assumption
“Mary said, my heart praises the Lord; my soul is glad because of God my Savior, for he has remembered me, His lowly servant! From now on all people will call me happy, because of the great things the Mighty God has done for me. His Name is Holy; from one generation to another He shows mercy to those who honor Him. He has stretched out His Mighty Arm and scattered the proud with all their plans. He has brought down mighty kings from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away with empty hands. He has kept the promise He made to our ancestors, and has come to the help of His servant Israel. He has remembered to show mercy to Abraham and to all his descendants forever.” (Luke 1:46-55)

When the Blessed Mother’s days on earth were completed, God took her home to heaven. One day when our days on earth are finished, we too will go to heaven. God our Father accepts us because we have accepted Jesus. Let us pray that we will be ready when He calls us. “I did come from the Father, and I came into the world; and now I am leaving the world and going to the Father.” (John 16:28)

Our Father…

“Lord – I, because of Your abundant kindness will enter Your house; I will worship at Your holy temple in fear of You, O LORD.” (Psalms 5:8)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Though my father and mother forsake me, yet will the LORD receive me.” (Psalms 27:10)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Can a mother forget her infant, be without tenderness for the child of her womb? Even should she forget, I will never forget you. See, upon the palms of my hands I have written your name.” (Isaiah 49:15-16)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places; otherwise, how could I have told you that I was going to prepare a place for you?” (John 14:2)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“What we await are new heavens and a new earth where, according to His promise, the justice of God will reside. So, beloved, while waiting for this, make every effort to be found without stain or defilement, and at peace in His sight.” (2 Peter 3:13-14)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Then the Son of Man will appear, coming in a cloud with great power and glory. When these things begin to happen, stand up and raise your heads, because your salvation is near.” (Luke 21:27-28)

Fifth Glorious Mystery
The Coronation
“A great and wondrous sign appeared in heaven: a Woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.” (Revelations 12:1)

Mary receives her crown of glory. A crown awaits all of us, if we persevere to the end. No one can imagine the glory God has planned for His children. Let us thank God for His goodness.

Our Father…

“You can depend on this: if we have died with Him, we shall also live with Him; if we hold out to the end, we shall also reign with Him.” (2 Timothy 2:11-12)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on a merited crown awaits me, on that Day the Lord, just judge that He is, will reward it to me.” (2 Timothy 4:7-8)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Be examples to the flock, not lording it over those assigned to you, so that when the chief Shepherd appears, you will win for yourselves the unfading crown of glory.” (1 Peter 5:3-4)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“I am coming soon. Hold fast to what you have lest someone rob you of your crown.” (Revelations 3:11)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“”They throw down their crowns before the throne and sing: ‘Oh Lord our God, You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power!’ (Revelations 4:10-11)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and His servants will worship Him. They will see His Face and His Name will be written on their foreheads. There shall be no more night, and they shall not need lamps or sunlight, because the Lord God will be their Light, and they will rule as kings forever and ever.” (Revelations 22:3-5)

First Luminous Mystery
Jesus’ Baptism in the Jordan
“As soon as Jesus was baptized, He came up out of the water. Then Heaven was opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God coming down like a dove and lighting on Him. Then a voice said from Heaven, “This is My own dear Son, with whom I am pleased.”” (Matthew 3:16-17)

The Father declared Jesus as His beloved Son during His baptism. During our baptism, the Father also declares us as His beloved children. Through the Son, we are his adopted, heirs to the glorious life in heaven. And we live this dignity by imitating Jesus. Let us pray for the grace of perseverance.

Our Father…

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing on high in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“I wish, then, that the men pray everywhere, lifting up pure hands, without wrath and contention.” (1 Timothy 2:8)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor shadow of alteration.” (James 1:13)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“By the power of God, you are guarded through faith for salvation, which is ready to be revealed in the last time.” (1 Peter 1:5)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love than this no one has, that one lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do the things I command you.” (John 15:12)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“More than anything else, however, we want to please Him, whether in our home here or there. For all of us must appear before Christ, to be judged by Him. We will receive what we deserve, according to everything we have done, good or bad, in our bodily life.” (2 Corinthians 5:9-10)

Second Luminous Mystery
Jesus’ Self-manifestation at the Wedding Feast of Cana
“When the wine had given out, Jesus’ Mother said to Him, “They are out of wine.” “You must not tell me what to do,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.” Jesus’ Mother told the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.” The Jews have rules about ritual washing, and for this purpose six stone water jars were there, each one large enough to hold between twenty and thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill these jars with water.” They filled them to the brim, and then He told them, “Now draw some water out and take it to the man in charge of the feast.” They took him the water, which had now turned into wine, and he tasted it. He did not know where this wine had come from (but, of course, the servants who had drawn out the water knew); so he called the bridegroom and said to him, “Everyone else serves the best wine first, and after the guests have drunk a lot, he serves the ordinary wine. But you have kept the best wine until now!” (John 2:3-10)

Mary interceded for the newly wed couple and so Jesus transformed water into wine which enabled the celebration to continue. This miracle happened because people, as Mary recommended, followed Jesus’ instruction. Let us pray for the gift of discernment, that we may strive to discover and follow God’s will.

Our Father…

“I too strive to have a clear conscience before God and before men.” (Acts 24:16)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“We speak before God in Christ, but in all things, beloved, for your own edification.” (2 Corinthians 13:20)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“I marvel that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you to the grace of Christ, changing to another gospel…” (Galatians 1:6)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Brothers, do not speak against one another. He who speaks against a brother, or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law.” (James 4:11)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“And this is the testimony, that God has given us eternal life; and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life.” (1 John 5:11-12)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Peter said: Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. And now we believe and know that You are the Holy One who has come from God.” (John 6:68-69)

Third Luminous Mystery
Jesus’ Proclamation of God’s Kingdom with His Call for Conversion
“Jesus went all over Galilee, teaching in the synagogues, preaching the Good News about the Kingdom, and healing people who had all kinds of disease and sickness. The news about Him spread through the whole country of Syria, so that people were brought to Him all those who were sick, suffering from all kinds of diseases and disorders; people with demons, and epileptics, and paralytics – and Jesus healed them all.” (Matthew 4:23-24)

By His preaching and miracles, Jesus proclaimed God’s kingdom, working for conversion by welcoming sinners in His fold and forgiving their sins. Let us pray that we too may experience repentance and Jesus’ forgiving presence.

Our Father…

“Now we know that for those who love God all things work together unto good, for those who according to His purpose, are saints through His call.” (Romans 8:28)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Thus do you consider yourselves also as dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 6:11)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Take heed, brothers, lest perhaps there be in any of you an evil, unforgiving heart that would turn away from the living God.” (Hebrews 3:12)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“As for you, beloved, build up yourselves upon your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.” (Jude 2:20)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, and no sign shall be given it but the sign of Jonas the prophet. For even as Jonas was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” (Matthew 12:39-41)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“For God has made all people prisoners of disobedience, so that He might show mercy to them all.” (Romans 11:32)

Fourth Luminous Mystery
The Transfiguration of Jesus
“As they looked on, a change came over Jesus, and His clothes became shining white – whiter than anyone in the world could wash them. Then the three disciples saw Elijah and Moses talking to Jesus. Peter spoke up and said to Jesus, “Teacher, how good it is that we are here! We will make three tents, one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” He and the others were so frightened that he did not know what to say. Then a cloud appeared and covered them with its shadow, and a voice came from the cloud, “This is My own dear Son – listen to Him!”” (Mark 9:2-7)

Jesus takes three of His Apostles on a mountain and is transfigured before them, giving them an experience of His Glory of His Resurrection. But the road to this glory is His passion and death. Let us pray for the gift of endurance in our trials and sufferings.

Our Father…

“Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16-17)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Indeed I am hard pressed from both sides – desiring to depart and to be with Christ, a lot far better, yet to stay on in the flesh is necessary for your sake.” (Philippians 1:23)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Do not therefore be ashamed of testimony for our Lord, nor of me, His prisoner, but enter into my sufferings for the gospel through the power of God.” (2 Timothy 1:8)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Put on therefore as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of mercy, kindness, humility, meekness, patience. Bear with one another and forgive one another.” (Colossians 3:12)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“So then brothers stand firm and hold the teachings that you have learned, whether by word or by letter of ours.” (2 Thessalonians 2:15)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Finally, build up your strength in union with the Lord and by means of His Mighty Power. Put on all the armor that God gives you, so that you will be able to stand up against the Devil’s evil tricks. For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age.

… So stand ready with truth as belt tight around your waist, with righteousness as your breastplate, and as your shoes the readiness to announce the Good News of Peace. At all times, carry faith as shield; for with it you will be able to put out all the burning arrows of the Evil One. And accept salvation as a helmet, and the Word of God as the sword the Spirit gives you. Do all this in prayer, asking for God’s help.” (Ephesians 6:10-18)

Fifth Luminous Mystery
Jesus’ Institution of the Eucharist
“Then He took a piece of bread, gave thanks to God, broke it, and gave it to them saying, “This is My Body, which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.” In the same way, He gave them the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is God’s new covenant sealed with my blood, which is poured out for you; poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” (Luke 22:19-20; Matthew 26:26-28)

Christ initiated the Eucharist during Holy Thursday, offering His body and blood as food under the signs of bread and wine, asking us to do this in remembrance of Him. Let us pray that the Eucharist may become the center of our lives as we draw from it our daily spiritual sustenance.

Our Father…

“And they continued steadfastly in the teaching of the apostles and in the communion of the breaking of the bread and in the prayers… And all who believed were together and held all things in common…” (Acts 2:42-44)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Charity is patient, is kind; charity does not envy, is not pretentious, is not puffed up, is not ambitious, is not self-seeking, is not provoked, thinks no evil, does not rejoice over wickedness but rejoices with the truth…” (1 Corinthians 13:8-9)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“For as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, many as they are, form one body, so also is it with Christ.” (1 Corinthians 1:12)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“As obedient children, do not conform to the lusts of former days when you were ignorant; but as the One who called you is holy, be you holy also in your behavior.” (1 Peter 1:14-15)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“Before the feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that the hour had come for Him to pass out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, loved them to the end.” (John 13:1)

Hail Mary… (2 times)

“In the beginning the Word already existed: the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Through Him God created all things, not one thing in all creation was made without Him. The Word was the source of Life, and this Life brought Light to the people. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out… The Word became a Human Being and full of Grace and Truth, lived among us.” (John 1:1-5,14)

“Then the Devil came to Him and said, “If You are God’s Son, order these stones to turn into bread.” But Jesus answered, “The Scripture says, “Human beings cannot live on bread alone, but need every word that God speaks.”” (Matthew 4:3-4)

“Jesus said to them, ”I am telling you the truth: if you do not eat the Flesh of the Son of Man and drink His Blood, you will not have life in yourselves. Those who eat My Flesh and drink My Blood will have Eternal Life, and I will raise them to life on the last day. For my Flesh is the Real Food, My Blood is the Real Drink. Those who eat My Flesh and drink My Blood live in Me, and I Live in them. The Living Father sent Me and because of Him I live also. In the same way, whoever eats Me will live because of Me. This, then, is the bread that came down from Heaven; it is not like the bread that Your ancestors ate, but then later died. Those who eat this Bread will live forever.” Jesus said this as He taught in the synagogue at Capernaum.” (John 6:53-59)

Our Lady, the Queen of Peace at Medjugorje

August 25, 1989:
“Dear children! I call you to prayer. By means of prayer, little children, you obtain peace and joy. Through prayer, you are richer in the mercy of God. Therefore, little children, let prayer be the life of each one of you. Especially I call you to pray that those who are far away from God may be converted. Then our hearts shall be richer because God will rule in the heart of all men. Therefore, little children, pray, pray, pray. Let prayer begin to rule the world.”

October 25, 1989:
“Dear children! Today, also, I am inviting you to prayer and always inviting you but are still far away. Therefore, from today decide seriously to dedicate time for God. I am with you and I wish to teach you to pray with the heart. In prayer with the heart you shall encounter God. Therefore, little children, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY.”

July 25, 1990:
“Dear children! Today I invite you to peace. I have come here as a queen of Peace and I desire to enrich you with my motherly peace. Dear children, I love you! And I desire to bring all of you to the peace which only God gives and which enriches every heart. I invite you to become carriers and witnesses of my peace to this unpeaceful world. Let peace rule in the whole world which is without peace and longs for peace. I bless you with my motherly blessing.
Thank you for having responded to my call.”

The History of the Holy Rosary
By Saint Louis Marie de Montfort
Since the rosary is composed, principally and in substance, of the prayer of Christ and the Angelic Salutation, that is, the Our Father and the Hail Mary, it was without doubt the first prayer and the principal devotion of the faithful and has been in use all through the centuries, from the time of the apostles and down to the present.

It was only in the year 1214, however, that the Church received the Rosary in its present form and according to the method we use today. It was given to the Church by St. Dominic, who had received it from the Blessed Virgin as a means of converting the Albigensians and other sinners. St. Dominic, seeing that the gravity of the people’s sins was hindering the conversion of the Albigensians, withdrew into a forest near Toulouse, where he prayed continuously for three days and three nights. During this time he did nothing but weep and do harsh penances in order to appease the anger of God. He used his discipline so much that his body was lacerated, and finally he fell into a coma. At this point our Lady appeared to him accompanied by three angels, and she said, “Dear Dominic, do you know which weapon the Blessed Trinity wants to use to reform the world?” “Oh, my Lady,” answered St. Dominic, “you know far better than I do, because next to your Son Jesus Christ you have always been the chief instrument of our salvation.” Then our Lady replied, “I want you to know that, in this kind of warfare, the principal weapon has always been the Angelic Psalter, which is the foundation-stone of the New Testament. Therefore, if you want to reach these hardened souls and win them over to God, preach my Psalter.” So he arose, comforted, and burning with zeal for the conversion of people in that district, he made straight for the cathedral. At once unseen angels rang the bells to gather the people together, and St. Dominic began to preach.

At the very beginning of his sermon, an appalling storm broke out, the earth shook, the sun was darkened, and there was so much thunder and lightning that all were very much afraid. Even greater was their fear when, looking at the picture of our Lady exposed in a prominent place, they saw her raise her arms to heaven three times to call down God’s vengeance to them if they failed to be converted, to amend their lives, and to seek the protection of the holy Mother of God. God wished, by means of these supernatural phenomena, to spread the new devotion of the Rosary and to make it more widely known. At last, at the prayer of St. Dominic, the storm came to an end, and he went on preaching. So fervently and compellingly did he explain the importance and value of the Rosary that almost all the people of Toulouse embraced it and renounced their false beliefs. In a very short time a great improvement was seen in the town; people began leading Christian lives and gave up their former bad habits.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, instructed by the Blessed Virgin as well as by his own experience, St. Dominic preached the Rosary for the rest of his life. He preached it by his example as well as by his sermons, in cities and in country places, to people of high station and low, before scholars and the uneducated, to Catholics and to heretics. The Rosary, which he said everyday, was his preparation for every sermon and his little tryst with our Lady immediately after preaching.

One day he had to preach at Notre Dame in Paris, and it happened to be the feast of St. John the Evangelist. He was in a little chapel behind the high altar prayerfully preparing his sermon by praying the Rosary, as he always did, when our Lady appeared to him and said: “Dominic, even though what you have planned to say may be very good, I am bringing you a much better sermon.” St. Dominic to in his hands the book our Lady proffered, read the sermon carefully and, when he had understood it and meditated on it, he gave thanks to her. When the time came, he went up into the pulpit and, in spite of the feast day, made no mention of Saint John other than to say he had been found worthy to be the guardian of the Queen of Heaven. The congregation was made up of theologians and other eminent people, who were used to hearing unusual and polished discourses; but St. Dominic told them that it was not his desire to give them a learned discourse, wise in the eyes of the world, but that he would speak in the simplicity of the Holy Spirit and with his forcefulness. So he began preaching the Rosary and explained the Hail Mary word by word as he would to a group of children, and used the very simple illustrations which were in the book given him by our Lady.

One time, our Lord and our Lady appeared to St. Dominic to urge him and inspire him to preach the Rosary more and more in order to wipe out sin and convert sinners and heretics. The Lord said to him: “Dominic, I rejoice to see that you are not relying on your own wisdom and that, rather than seek the empty praise of men, you are working with great humility for the salvation of souls. But many priests want to preach thunderously against the worst kinds of sin at the very outset, failing to realize that before a sick person is given bitter medicine, he needs to be prepared by being put into the right frame of mind to really benefit by it. That is why, before doing anything else, priests should try to kindle a love of prayer in people’s hearts and especially a love of my Angelic Psalter. If only they would start saying it and would really persevere, God in His Mercy could hardly refuse to give them His Grace. So, I want you to preach my Rosary.”

From the time of St. Dominic, the holy Rosary has always been called the Psalter of Jesus and Mary. This is because it has the same number of Hail Marys as there are psalms in the Book of the Psalms of David. Since simple and uneducated people are not able to say the Psalms of David, the Rosary is held to be just as fruitful for them as David’s Psalter is for others.

Our Lady has approved and confirmed this name of the Rosary; she has revealed to several people that each time they say a Hail Mary they are giving her a beautiful rose, and that each complete Rosary makes her a crown of roses. So the complete Rosary is a large crown of roses and each chaplet of five decades is a little wreath of flowers or a little crown of heavenly roses which we place on the heads of Jesus and Mary. The rose is the queen of flowers, and so the rosary is the rose of devotions and the most important one.

Our Lady of the Rosary
October 7, 1571
The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary was established in 1571 by St. Pius V to commemorate the naval battle of Lepanto. The victory of the Christian fleets over the Turks was attributed to the Virgin Mary, whose help was invoked through praying the Rosary. According to a venerable tradition, this beautiful prayer was revealed to St. Dominic by the Blessed Mother. The 150 Hail Marys correspond to the number of Psalms that the illiterate people of that time could not understand. The first part of the Hail Mary is taken from the Gospel of Luke, the second was added by the tradition of the Church.

The 15 mysteries, divided into joyful, sorrowful and glorious, reflect the principal events of the life of Jesus and Mary. Paul VI said that a Rosary without meditation on these mysteries is like a dead person without life. The litanies, taken from the Sanctuary of Loreto in Italy, were added to the Rosary in 1592. The response we repeat after every decade – O my Jesus, forgive us our sins – was dictated by the Virgin Mary to the three visionaries of Fatima in 1917. Those who consider monotonous to repeat so many times the same prayer should be reminded that lovers are never tired to repeat the same few words over and over again. The Holy Rosary is a matter of love.

Introduction
The Rosary of the Virgin Mary is a prayer loved by countless saints and encouraged by the Magisterium. Simple yet profound, it still remains, at the dawn of this third millennium, a prayer of great significance, destined to bring forth a harvest of holiness. The Rosary, though clearly Marian in character, is at heart a Christocentric prayer. It can be said to be a compendium of the gospel.

The Popes and the Rosary
I myself have often encouraged the frequent recitation of the Rosary. From my youthful years this prayer has held an important place in my spiritual life. The Rosary has accompanied me in moments of joy and in moments of difficulty. The Rosary is my favorite prayer. A marvelous prayer!

October 2002-October 2003: The Year of the Rosary
I desire that during the course of this year the Rosary should be especially emphasized and promoted in various Christian communities. I therefore proclaim the year from October 2002 to October 2003 the Year of the Rosary.

A Path of Contemplation
The most important reason for strongly encouraging the practice of the Rosary is that it represents a most effective means of fostering among the faithful that commitment to the contemplation of the Christian mystery which is a genuine training in holiness. What is needed is a Christian life distinguished above all in the art of prayer. Our Christian communities should become genuine schools of prayer. The Rosary is a meditative prayer, corresponding in some way to the “prayer of the heart” or “Jesus prayer.”

Prayer for Peace and for the Family
The Rosary is a prayer for peace. To rediscover the Rosary means to immerse oneself in contemplation of the mystery of Christ who “is our peace”, since he made “the two of us one, and broke down the dividing wall of hostility” (Eph. 2:14). Consequently, one cannot recite the Rosary without feeling caught up in a clear commitment to advancing peace.

A similar need for commitment and prayer arises in relation to another critical contemporary issue: the family, the primary cell of society, increasingly menaced by forces of disintegration on both the ideological and practical planes. The revival of the Rosary in Christian families will be an effective aid to countering the devastating effects of this crisis typical of our age.

The Mysteries of Light
For the Rosary to become more fully a “compendium of the Gospel”, it is fitting to add, following reflection on the Incarnation and the hidden life of Christ (the joyful mysteries) and before focusing on the sufferings of His Passion (the sorrowful mysteries) and the triumph of His Resurrection (the glorious mysteries), a meditation on certain particularly significant moments in His public ministry (the mysteries of light or luminous mysteries).

This addition of these new mysteries, without prejudice to any essential aspect of the prayer’s traditional format, is meant to give it fresh life and to enkindle renewed interest in the Rosary’s place within Christian spirituality as a true doorway to the depths of the Heart of Christ, ocean of joy and of light, of suffering and of glory.

Listening to the Word of God
In order to supply a Biblical foundation to our meditation, it is helpful to follow the pronouncement of the mystery with the proclamation of a related biblical passage.

After the announcement of the mystery and the proclamation of the Word, it is fitting to pause and focus one’s attention for a suitable period of time on the mystery concerned, before moving into vocal prayer.

The “Our Father”
After listening to the Word and focusing on the mystery, it is natural for the mind to be lifted up towards the Father. In each of His mysteries, Jesus always leads us to the Father.

The Ten “Hail Marys”
The first part of the Hail Mary is drawn from the words spoken to Mary by the Angel Gabriel and by Saint Elizabeth. The center of gravity in the Hail Mary, the hinge as it were which joins its two parts, is the Name of Jesus. In the second half of the prayer we call Mary Theotókos, Mother of God, as we entrust to her maternal intercession our lives and the hour of our death.

The “Gloria”
The Trinitarian doxology is the goal of all Christian contemplation. For Christ is the way that leads us to the Father in the Spirit. It is important that the Gloria, the high point of contemplation, be given due prominence in the Rosary. In public recitation, it could be sung, as a way of giving proper emphasis to the essentially Trinitarian structure of all Christian prayer.

The Rosary Beads
The first thing to note is the way the beads converge upon the Crucifix, which both opens and closes the unfolding sequence of prayer. The life and prayer of believers is centered upon Christ. The beads are like a “chain” which links us to God. A chain, yes, but a sweet chain; for sweet indeed is the bond to God who is also our Father.

The Opening and Closing
The Rosary begins with the recitation of the Creed, as if to make the profession of faith the basis of the contemplative journey about to be undertaken.

The Rosary is ended with a prayer for the intentions of the Pope, as if to expand the vision of the one praying to embrace all the needs of the Church.

The splendid prayers of the Salve Regina and the Litany of Loreto are the crowning moment of the inner journey of the Rosary.

Distribution over Time
The Rosary can be recited in full everyday, and there are those who most laudably do so. In this way it fills with prayer the days of may a contemplative, or keeps company with the sick and the elderly who have abundant time at their disposal.

Otherwise, this is the pattern for the weekly distribution. Monday and Saturday are dedicated to the “joyful mysteries”; Tuesday and Friday to the “sorrowful mysteries”; Wednesday and Sunday to the “glorious mysteries”; and Thursday to the “luminous mysteries.”

Supplication to the Queen of the Holy Rosary
“O Blessed Rosary of Mary, sweet chain which unites us to God, bond of love which unites us to the angels, tower of salvation against the assaults of Hell, safe port in our universal shipwreck, we will never abandon you. You will be our comfort in our hour of death: yours our final kiss as life ebbs away. And the last word from our lips will be your sweet name, O Queen of the Rosary of Pompei, O dearest Mother, O Refuge of Sinners, O Sovereign Consoler of the Affilicted. May you be everywhere blessed, today and always, on earth and in heaven.”
