Prayer for All Occasions
Lord,
May everything we do
Begin with your inspiration
And continue with your help,
So that all our prayers
And works
May begin in You
And by You be happily ended.
We ask this through Christ
Our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for Meetings
We stand before you, Holy Spirit,
Conscious of our sinfulness,
But aware that we gather
In Your Name.
Come to us, remain with us,
And enlighten our hearts.
Give us light and strength to know Your will,
To make it our own,
And to live it in our lives.
Guide us by Your wisdom,
Support us by Your power,
For You are God,
Sharing the glory of Father
And Son.
You desire justice for all:
Enable us to uphold
The rights of others
Do not allow us to be misled
By ignorance
Or corrupted by fear or favor.
Unite us to Yourself
In the bond of love
And keep us faithful
To all that is true.
As we gather in Your Name
May we temper justice with love,
So that all our decisions
May be pleasing to You,
And earn the reward
Promised to good
And faithful servants.
Amen.
Prayer Before Going to Work
Sharing my skills with others
How gracious you are, O God
You give us everything in this life:
Food on our table,
Clothes on our backs,
A roof over our heads,
A meaningful existence,
The spirit of discernment.
How gracious you are, O God,
To enhance this unworthy body
With a creative mind
And skilful hands.
You gift us with innumerable talents
And make us stewards of Your land.
You call us not servants but masters
Of all Your creation.
Guide us that we may remain
Faithful and responsible workers
And tenants of Your vineyard.
Grant us the grace
Not to doubt Your Word
Nor challenge Your divine will.
Keep us from succumbing
To the seductions of fame,
The lures of material wealth,
The quest for personal gain.
May we not gamble future glory
For the passing pleasures of this world.
Give us the courage to stake everything
On You alone, O dear God. Amen.

Saint Michael's Deliverance Prayer Series
Prayer for Deliverance of Addicted Persons
St. Michael, the Archangel
I come to you with a body broken
by addiction to .....................
I have tried all possible solutions
To break this habit,
But though my spirit is willing,
My body is weak.
I realize that I am struggling against
An evil greater than myself.
So I am taking refuge
Under the shadow of your wings,
That your sword may protect me
And help me get out
Of this situation and this addiction.
My family and my loved ones have suffered much because of me.
For their sake,
I want to change my life
And live happily for them.
St. Michael,
You are the first to struggle
Against Satan and his devils.
I feel their power over me,
And I believe that this addiction
Is no longer a human reality,
But a product of
Satan’s manifold presence on earth.
I beseech your presence
In my lonely struggle.
As I wake up each morning,
Enkindle in my heart your faith
And total surrender to God,
And make my will invincible as yours
So that I may continue
With my therapy and treatment
Without relapses,
And so that I may seek strength
From the sacraments,
Especially from the Holy Eucharist.
St. Michael,
Through your intercession,
I know that Jesus will help me.
Amen.
Prayer for Deliverance from Evil
O Blessed Angels,
Take care of me
So that evil may not come near me,
So that sin may not destroy me,
And that I may always serve Jesus
Who never abandons me.
St. Michael,
I beg that you accompany me
Along with all the Holy Angels
That God has placed
To guard me in my life.
I beg that you give me
The victory of Christ against evil.
Put me under the shadow
Of your protective wings
And with your sword,
Defeat God’s enemy
Who wishes to destroy me.
Help me, St. Michael, the Archangel.
To attain the salvation of my soul.
Amen.
Prayer to Ward Away Spiritual Disturbances
O glorious St. Michael, the Archangel,
Your presence reminds us
That the devils
Do not only remain in hell.
They are with us,
And they continue to disturb us.
We feel their presence in this place
And they have not ceased to disturb us
Through inexplicable events.
We ask you, Prince of the Angels,
To come to our rescue
And expel the evil spirits
That haunt this place.
May your sword frighten them.
We also know that
The presence of evil spirits invites us
Towards moral conversion.
The spirit of darkness
Could not stay in places of
Jesus’ authentic disciples.
We promise to make
A daily examination of conscience,
To strengthen our will
For the combat against sin.
We commit ourselves
To your side, and
To your eternal determination
That led to the defeat of Satan
And his followers.
Stay with us, St. Michael,
So that your presence may remind us
To be faithful disciples of Jesus.
Amen.

Novena to St. Michael and the Archangels
INTRODUCTION
Devotion to St. Michael the Archangel and the Holy Angels dates back to the Old Testament in the time of the Jewish Synagogue. In the early days, the Eastern and Western Churches have started propagating the devotion to them. In the Eastern Tradition during the fourth century, particularly in Phrygia and Egypt, there were already churches dedicated to St. Michael and the Holy Angels. In the Western Church documents of seventh century it shows that even during the fifth century, the feast of St. Michael and the Holy Angels is being celebrated in the Basilica of the Angels found six miles to the north outside of Rome.
Here in our country, the existing San Miguel Parish Church in San Miguel, Manila has been declared by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines as the National Shrine of st. Michael and the Archangels last January 27, 1985. Only Divine Providence could cause the Seven Archangels to emerge at a time when humanity is vastly imperilled and in desperate need of Heaven’s powerful aid to free mankind from the seven powerful forces of evil. The Archangels and the forces which they do battle against are as follows:
1. St. Michael, First Defender of God’s Dominion and Authority. It is in St. Michael’s powerful aid that we must rely upon to defend ourselves against the assaults of atheism (i.e., denial of the existence of God) as expressed in Marxism and in the materialistic secularism.
2. St. Gabriel, God’s Special Messenger. He renews our hope in the Lord Jesus as the fulfilment of humanity’s search for meaning against nihilism (i.e., rejection of all distinctions in moral value, constituting a willingness to refute all previous theories of morality), depriving life of all essence of its very existence.
3. St. Raphael, Mankind’s Special Guide to Heaven. He constantly guides us in our everyday journey here on earth towards the place of true happiness – which is the home of our Heavenly Father. Humanity is presently afflicted with the greediness of people for power and wealth expressed by monopolistic capitalism (i.e., capital is only at the hands of the few, vested interest) over the powerless.
4. St. Uriel, Archangel of Divine Justice. He reminds us of the last judgement of God, wherein every man will have to account for everything he has done here on earth. He is likewise God-sent to defend those who are suffering from injustices in any form especially racism (i.e., the practice of racial discrimination, persecution, oppression, etc.).
5. St. Sealtiel, Archangel of Adoration. He leads us away from hedonism that spawns prostitution, drug abuse, abortion and murder, and guides us in purifying and transforming purity of mind and heart.
6. St. Jhudiel, Archangel of God’s Merciful Love. He helps us see God’s mercy, love and peace in order to overcome communism (i.e., a theory or system of ownership of all property by the community as a whole). He shows us how to conquer evil with good and to forgive those who have wronged us.
7. St. Barachiel, Provider and Guardian of God’s Children. He speaks of god’s Fatherly love for us in providing for all the needs of our soul and body. He come to show mankind that we, too, should strive hard to earn our daily bread and be not a slave of the fatalistic attitude of fatalism (i.e., the doctrine that all events are predetermined by fate and therefore unaltered by man).
It is for the purpose of fostering devotion to these Seven Archangels “who stand ever ready in the presence of God” (Book of Tobit 12:15) who have under them legions of angels at their command to do battle against the powerful forces of evil that this prayer booklet has been prepared. It is intended to help our people discover the role of St. Michael and the Archangels in our contemporary world, troubled as it is by spiritual, social, political and economic dislocations.
God grant that the pages that follow, by their usage, in private and public devotions in honor of the Archangels, give them due honor. And through their powerful intercession, may they bring individuals, families, communities and entire peoples back to God’s unerring ways of truth, love, freedom and justice which alone can draw Heaven’s peace upon our beloved country /the Philippines/ and lead us to God’s Kingdom in heaven.

Novena in Honor of all the Archangels
Almighty God, Creator of heaven and earth, I praise and thank You, not only because You have created the visible world, but also because You have created the heavens and called the numberless spirits into being. You created them most splendidly, endowing them with proper understanding and pouring out upon them the riches of Your grace. I praise and thank You for having showered your graces upon the good Angels and rewarded them with eternal glory after the time of their successful probation. Now they surround Your throne forever, singing in jubilant accord: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts. Heaven and earth are full of Your Glory. Hosanna in the highest!
Glorious servants of God surrounding the throne of the Most High, I praise You for that splendour with which God has adorned you so bountifully. To you, He granted the grace to remain faithful when Lucifer and his followers rebelled. Implore for me also the grace to persevere in His holy service.
Glorious hosts of the heavenly courts, resplendent light of God’s Kingdom, protect the Church and lead her to victory over all her enemies. Angelic ministers of the throne of God, conquer all evil and lead the people of God to victory.

Archangel of Worship and Contemplation
St. Sealtiel continually stands before God, with incenser in hand in unceasing adoration of the Most Holy Trinity. We need St. Sealtiel’s powerful intercession before God’s throne to overcome the evils of hedonism in our day. May the evils of drug addiction, sex exploitation and abortion become things of discredited past. Instead, may endless hymns of praise rise from all peoples as they chant in union with the Heavenly Choirs of Angels, in perpetual thanksgiving of God’s bountiful blessings. Yet, he continually grants us forbearance freely and lovingly. Help us in our determination to overcome our sinful habits and be truly sorry for them. You who continually intercedes for us, listen to our prayers... Present to God our Father all these petitions through Jesus Christ our Lord together with the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.

SAINT BARACHIEL
Guardian and Provider of the Children of God
Through the merits of Our Lord Jesus Christ, His passion, death and resurrection, all His disciples are brought to a transforming union with Him. Through His transformation in love, the soul becomes Christ-like. As such, every Christ-like soul become, by adoption, the child of the Father. St. Barachiel is the Archangel who was assigned by God to keep watch over His adopted children, taking care that he and the Choirs of Angels assigned to the task to guard these transformed souls in all their ways, bearing them up in their hands, “lest they dash their feet against the stone on their way to their heavenly home” (Psalm 91:17).
REFLECTIONS
1. Do I realize that to be Christ-like means to follow God’s commandments?
2. How do I grow in the qualities of Christ-called virtues?
3. Do I pray to my guardian angel?
4. Does his presence remind me of God’s protection and care?
PRAYER
O Powerful Archangel, St. Barachiel, filled with heaven’s glory and splendour, you are rightly called God’s benediction. We are God’s children placed under your protection and care. Listen to our supplications... grant that through your loving intercession, we may reach our Heavenly Home one day. Sustain us and protect us from all harm that we may possess for all eternity the peace and happiness that Jesus has prepared for us in heaven. Present to God the Father all these petitions through Jesus Christ our Lord together with the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.
